Our recent visit to Hopefield Animal Sanctuary was a lovely experience, as we spent the morning in the company of lots of rescued animals.
The sanctuary is home to many animals, from horses, cows, pigs, rabbits, sheep, alpacas and reptiles! It sits on 53 acres of countryside and currently cares for over 600 sick, unwanted or mistreated animals. It runs solely on the profits it makes and providing the best care and home possible.
The sanctuary is fairly accessible and buggy friendly and you can get up close with the animals. The animal pens all have signs to give you more information about the animal and how it found it's home at Hopefield. The children loved watching the rabbits running happily in their pen and seeing the giant cows!
Our visit was during the Easter holidays so there was an Easter trail to follow and the Easter bunny was waiting to greet us. There also also some free Easter colouring and extra craft activities that you can pay for.
In addition, the sanctuary has a lovely play area for the children with climbing frames, slides, tractor tunnels and swings. There are picnic benches located within the playground and also further towards the back of the sanctuary, where we sat and had a picnic after seeing the animals. There are tearooms too, located just inside the entrance as well as a gift shop.
If you're looking for somewhere to take the children, to really focus on the animals and support a great cause, Hopefield is a great place to go! At just £9 for Adult general admission (inc donation) and £8 for 2-15 year olds (inc donation), it's an affordable day out and of course, a great way to support all the animals.
