A message from North Herts District Council about Christmas bin collection dates
Starting next week your bin collection days will change for the Christmas and New Year period. Please ensure your recycling and waste containers are on the boundary of your property by 7am on the day of your collection.
Collections will return to normal from Monday 13 January.
If you subscribe to our garden waste service, there will be no collections between 30 December and 11 January. You can leave real Christmas trees out for collection when the service resumes from 13 January.
As temperatures drop, the contents of your bins can become frozen. Our crews will attempt to empty frozen bins but sometimes the contents can become stuck. To avoid your bin not being emptied, please follow our top tips:
- Check the lid of your bin will open before collection is due.
- Loosen the waste by sliding a spade between the contents and the side of the bin.
- If possible, store your bin in a slightly warmer place e.g. sheltered, against a wall or inside a garage or shed.
- If you have a lot of garden waste, do not squash it into the bin
