The history society is proud to present a public lecture: Frank O Salisbury, Painter Laureate 1874 - 1962.
Born and raised in Harpenden, he was successful and famous in his lifetime, with his work shown at the Royal Academy, Palace of Westminster and, his stained glass windows in churches around the world including in Harpenden. His portrait of Roosevelt still hangs in the White House and yet today he is little known.
Stephanie Reynard, past chairman of the Arts Society Harpenden Evening (TASHE), talks about her research into Frank Salisbury's life and work. His sitters included Churchill, Rockefeller and Queen Elizabeth II following her accession.
He is buried in St Nicholas churchyard
Public lecture open to all. Free to members of the Harpenden History Society. Cost £5 for guests. Museum open from 7pm for viewing
