Harpenden works hard to keep its community feel and with so much available it is bursting at the seams. For quiet reflection or for letting the children run loose there are plenty of green parks and spaces including Rothamsted Park in the heart of the town and Batford Springs. Pack a picnic and sit by the duck ponds at Lydekker Park or Southdown Road. Harpenden has been a Fair Trade town for several years and proudly flies the Green Flag Award year after year for its superb 238 acre Common, where you can follow one of the Nature Trails.
When you’ve exhausted skateboarding in the park and swimming at the Leisure Centre, see what’s on at The Eric Morecambe Centre, or take your bikes along the Nickey Line or further afield to Heartwood Forest to realise what a wonderful situation we have in Harpenden. Surrounded by countryside yet close enough to major cities and towns to access every opportunity.
We've created a map of the things to do and places to go in Harpenden, and also a separate map of the Play Areas around Harpenden.
Whilst we do our best to ensure all details on the website are correct and up to date, please do check opening times and details with the venue before you set off. Nobody wants disappointed children at the end of the journey!
Also please note that where we have stated that an activity/entrance is free, there may be car parking charges or charges for some of the additional activities offered.
