Children will make their very own model Gipsy Moth bi-plane in this workshop designed to get minds thinking and whirring as they make their plane and find out about amazing aviatrix, Amy Johnson.
On 5th May 1930, Amy Johnson took off from Croydon Airport on an incredible solo flight to Darwin. At just 26 years old, she flew in her open cockpit bi-plane, Jason across 11,000 miles on the flight that was to make her name. An unknown pilot on take-off, Amy was an international superstar when she touched down in Darwin, securing her place in aviation history as the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia!
In 2025, the 95th anniversary of year of Amy 's incredible flight, children can find out more about Amy and make their very own Jason the Gipsy Moth bi-plane. All materials are provided in this fun workshop session led by experienced creative facilitator, Jenny Lockyer.
Children are encouraged to be independent in the session but at least one responsible adult per booking is required to stay throughout.
