Harpenden Christmas Carnival & Lights Switch On
High Street
Sun 27th November 2022
12 - 6pm
The Carnival will feature all of the traditional features such as a Santa's Grotto, food stalls, outdoor bars, the market, entertainment, the traditional procession and, of course, the spectacular Christmas Lights Switch On at 5.00pm.
Santas's Grotto will be open from 12-5.30pm (with a break between 2.45 and 3.30pm so Santa can join the procession). Children are invited to visit the Grotto on the Common and receive a gift and craft activity. Entry to the Grotto is £3.
The procession is always a highlight of this event and this year will be no exception. The Town Council is delighted that the Pipes and Drums will again lead, closely be followed by Santa and his elves. Joining them are stilt walkers and entertainers, Police Cadets, Brownies and Scout groups, Young Miscellany, The Little Gym, CASPA School and Show Time Circus. The procession begins at 3pm; from Lydekker Park it will travel along the high street up to Vaughan Road.
The Carnival will include a variety of entertainment on two stages: the Community Stage entertainment will include the fabulous Hurst Children's Theatre Group, Harpenden and Wheathampstead Gang Show, SW Dance, Showtime Circus, CASPA, Musicale, the Harpenden Panto, and St Albans Rock Choir. On the Main stage we're delighted to announce the return of Simon Cragg and Right as Rain, two Harpenden favourites to get the crowds in the mood for a festive celebration!
