At ArtiKids, we aim to give children and their families the opportunity to explore their creativity and fire up their imaginations, through working together on arts and crafts experiences and workshops. Inspiring imaginations is what we love to do most, and we currently offer holiday and seasonal ArtiFamilies workshops, events and fantastic arts and crafts parties for girls and boys of all ages.
We absolutely love Easter at ArtiKids, and always have lots of fun making Easter crafts in our classes and I am excited to share some Easter ideas that you can try at home with your children.
Footprint bunny canvas
1. Take a footprint on your canvas or paper, with the toes facing down.
2. Paint two bunny ears with the same paint
3. Stick on a co-ordinating pom pom and then draw on grass, flowers, ladybirds and bees. You can stick on gems or sequins if you have them.
Standing footprint bunny
1. Cut out a semi-oval shape, and a bunny head shape. Do 2 footprints onto a piece of card and cut out the prints and then let your little on do some mark-making onto the semi-oval shape.
2. Bring the two pointed ends of the semi-oval together and glue it or use double sided tape to secure it. Use a pen and if you have them, a button and some googly eyes. to decorate the bunny’s head.
3. Attach the bunny’s head to the body and finish with a bow.
Carrot footprints
1. Take orange footprints and cut them out
2. Cut some green card (or paint/colour some white card in green) and cut it into small strips.
3. Glue them onto the back of the orange footprints near the toes to create carrots and then glue them onto a piece of card.
Salt dough
A very popular craft with our pre-schooler class that you can enjoy at home are salt dough Easter decorations. Our recommended salt dough recipe is
1 cupful of plain flour (about 250g)
half a cupful of table salt (about 125g)
half a cupful of water (about 125ml)
Preheat the oven to its lowest setting and line a baking tray with baking parchment.
1. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the water and stir until it comes together into a ball. We like to add a little paint to the dough to colour it.
2. Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and roll it out and cut out shapes, numbers or letters using biscuit cutters, or make any kind of shape you can think of.
3. Put your finished items on the lined baking sheet and bake for 3 hrs or until solid.
4. Leave to cool and then paint if you haven’t already added paint to the dough.
Easter Egg hunt
Easter Egg hunts are also great fun to do and I always use these fantastic clues from Hobbycraft Easter Egg Hunt Clues FREE Download, as all you need to do is print them and cut them out.
You may need an Easter hunt bag when searching for chocolate eggs, and these cute carrot bags from the Hobbycraft blog are lovely.
Carrot Easter hunt bag
1. Place a dinner plate over half a piece of orange A4 card – it should fill the paper. Draw around it and cut out so you have a semi-circle.
2. Roll into a cone shape and stick together using double sided tape or glue.
3. To make the handle cut a strip (about 3cm wide) from the long edge of some green card. Tape each end inside the top of the carrot.
4. Cut some thinner strips of green card and wrap them around a pencil to curl them. Tape onto the top of the handle.
5. Stick some stickers on each side of the basket and enjoy your egg hunt.
Easter colouring card
It is also fun to make some Easter cards for family and this card template can be printed and coloured with felt tips or colouring pencils then gifted to loved ones.
