Last year I had a message from a lady whose daughter had moved to Hitchin with her 1 year old, asking for suggestions of where she could go to meet other parents.
I’m sure many of you have been in a similar position, and having myself been a new mum in a town I didn’t grow up in, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get your suggestions on the best places to go to meet others in Hitchin and nearby.
I know I wouldn’t have got through the early years without the amazing support network I’ve picked up along the way. There’s nothing more reassuring than finding a place or group where you’re able to just rant away about lack of sleep, moan about tantrumming toddlers, or share your birth story in graphic detail with someone you’ve only just met…and know they just get it.
We’re so lucky to have lots of great playgroups, classes, parks and cafés in Hitchin, but where are the real gems for meeting likeminded parents?
I was inundated with recommendations following posts on social media to ask for your recommendations, so below are all the suggestions that were given.
Don’t forget, if you’re new to Hitchin, there’s a Facilities and Services page with lots of local information.
