Gadebridge is on the northern edges of Hemel Hempstead, forming a green wedge of urban countryside running into the heart of the town. The play area offers a wide range of equipment for ages 2 to 15. Highfield Park is situated on the south eastern side of St Albans. Among the features are parkland with mature trees, a tree trail, football fields, two woods (Winchfield Wood and Hither Wood), ponds, orchards and a maze. There are a number of small children's play areas, managed by Highfield Park Trust, in and around the park.

At Hitchin Lavender visitors are encouraged to walk through the miles of rows that make up the two fields of lavender. Children love the freedom to run up and down the rows and can enjoy picking some to take home (charges apply). The fields are also a great spot for photographers. Inside the 17th Century barn there is a shop with products and plants, and a cafe serving refreshments, snacks and light lunches. Open May-September - check website for exact dates.

Located in the heart of Houghton Regis, Houghton Hall Park is a hidden gem - unlocking 42 acres of parkland, woodland and more to visitors and the local community. With woodland walks, a number of play features dotted throughout the park, a visitor centre, cafe and 3 hours free parking.

Howard Park and Gardens is a vital green space in the heart of Hatfield surrounded by mature trees and with formal gardens around the bowls area. The Park now has updated leisure facilities catering for young and old alike. Play area, Refreshment kiosk, Paddling pool, Large green space for relaxation, picnics or family fun, Public toilets, Varied seating around the Park and Gardens.

Our 250 acres offer a quiet refuge for country picnics and dog walking (visitors are asked to use leads in the park and not to take pets into the gardens). You might catch a glimpse of Red and Sika deer. Children can run loose at the Adventure Playground, search for Geoffrey the Gorilla, hiding at the centre of the Victorian Maze, and enjoy a dinosaur safari with 72 pre-historic creatures grazing amongst the redwoods.
