The Air Cadets is a youth organisation open to Boys and Girls in Year 8 and above. Activities: Flying, Gliding, Shooting- Live Firing and Marksmanship Training, Sports - Competitions up to international level, Fieldcraft - Learn survival skills, Annual Camps - Experience Life on an RAF Base, D of E Award, First Aid - Qualifications that save lives, Adventure Training - Explore the world, Drill, Training - BTEC in Aviation Studies worth 4 GCSEs, Leadership - Building the next generation of leaders, Music -Competitions and Marching Bands, Radio and Cyber - Learn how technology is shaping the future, And more!

We parade on a Monday and Wednesday from 1900 to 2130hrs. We are open to children aged from 12 (Year 8) to 18 yrs of age who are from Harpenden and the surrounding areas. Come along and give it a go!

Groups and Units are open to both boys and girls. Beaver Scouts are aged 6 - 8. Cub Scouts are aged 8 - 10.5. Scouts are aged 10.5 to 14. Explorer Scouts are aged 14 - 18. There are a number of Groups and Units across the District. WAITING LISTS ARE LONG AND A PLACE IS NOT GUARANTEED. More leaders are always required and children of leaders get priority. WAITING LISTS: If your child is over 6 go to www.harpendenscouts.org.uk and follow the links and instructions to join the District Waiting List. If your child is under 6 you will need to go to www.harpendenscouts.org.uk, choose which Group's (or Groups') waiting list(s) you wish to join and follow the link to contact the relevant person at that Group. Your child's name will be added to that Group's waiting List. If your child is unfortunately not allocated a place at your Group of choice when your child turns 6, their name will be added to the District Waiting List automatically and you will be contacted when a place becomes available for a child of the same age bracket as your child.

Rainbows are aged 5 to 7, Brownies 7 to 10, Guides 10 to 14 and Rangers for those aged 14 to 18. Police cadets are young members of the community, aged 13 to 18, who are involved in a range of activities. As well as learning about police procedures and the law, cadets also work alongside local officers to play a vital role in community events. Engaging with members of the public and educating them on crime prevention, while taking part in a range of social activities. The group meets every other Tuesday evening and you do not have to have ambitions to become a police officer to join.
