Famous for its rock concerts Knebworth House has been home to the Lytton family for over 500 years. Younger visitors can follow the Dinosaur Trail in the Wilderness Garden and try to spot the 72 life-sized dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures. Enjoy the Adventure Playground with bouncy castle, astro slide and drop slide, zip wire and splash water play features.

Recorded as a woodland for over 900 years, Parndon Wood is composed of a canopy of oak with coppiced hornbeam growing beneath. Visitors can follow the 1.5km trail, or simply explore the wood's many tracks and paths. There are three observation hides, where you can wait quietly for a glimpse of a green woodpecker or Muntjac deer. In the accessible conservation centre, learn about the local wildlife from the classroom full of woodland specimens, taxidermy and information posters. Children can hire bug hunting kits, have fun in the den building area, hire binoculars and complete seasonal spotter sheets. During school holidays, there are plenty of activity sessions for young people.

Come to the deep dark wood to discover orienteering trails and giant Gruffalo sculptures, Plus, this year we're celebrating the Gruffalo's 20th birthday with our free party pack! Try our fun, navigational challenge at Wendover Woods using a simple map to find twelve Gruffalo markers hidden in the deep, dark wood. If you're feeling competitive, choose to run, walk (or skip!) the course against the clock.
