Our 250 acres offer a quiet refuge for country picnics and dog walking (visitors are asked to use leads in the park and not to take pets into the gardens). You might catch a glimpse of Red and Sika deer. Children can run loose at the Adventure Playground, search for Geoffrey the Gorilla, hiding at the centre of the Victorian Maze, and enjoy a dinosaur safari with 72 pre-historic creatures grazing amongst the redwoods. Panshanger Park is 400 hectares of stunning countryside. You can enjoy the surroundings of ancient woodland, veteran oak trees and views across the Mimram Valley. Some areas of earlier mineral extraction have been restored to agricultural land, which supports winter populations of endangered farmland birds and summer breeding populations of lapwing. On the lakes and the river you may see kingfishers, great crested grebes and, if you are lucky, an osprey passing though on migration.

Rothamsted Park covers 23 hectares and provides a home for many of the town's sport and recreational activities including the Skate Park, playground, a zipline, floodlit courts for tennis, netball and 5-a-side football, the swimming pool and outdoor pool which is open in the summer months, 2 cricket squares, several football pitches, an orienteering course and the Leisure Centre. However, it is also the place for a gentle stroll, a dog walk, a BBQ (in the designated areas) and a quiet picnic. Paid parking on Amenbury Lane. Some free parking available on Leyton Road.
