Explore our 3 exhibition rooms where you can see beautiful local art displays and discover fascinating history. Our working watermill is made of 18th & 19th century wooden machinery which has been restored to full working order. It is in regular use to grind organic wheat for a local bakery and for retail sale. On milling days, visitors can see the watermill in action.

A fascinating interactive museum where history comes to life - see how people used to shop and what life was like in a Victorian school, try cooking in a farmhouse kitchen or play parlour games, experience a WW2 Air raid and discover the story of human communication. They are packed with tasks and quizzes to complete as you move through the museum. In the Charity Café there is a range of toys, games and colouring-in for younger visitors. Located on the site of a steam driven silk mill, this volunteer-run museum is open from February to November at the weekends from 2 pm to 5 pm. Its three rooms consider the history, industry and mysteries of Redbourn village through changing exhibitions. Local history books, pictures, cards and other gifts are on sale. There is visitor parking but limited access for people with disabilities. Admission free but donations very welcome.

Visit our great little award-winning Museum, situated in the Buckinghamshire village where Roald Dahl lived and wrote for 36 years. The Museum, aimed at 6 to 12 year olds, features three interactive galleries. Boy gallery looks at Roald Dahl's school days while Solo gallery houses his original Writing Hut. The Story Centre puts your imagination centre-stage with fantabulous activities to inspire the writer in you.

The Royal Gunpowder Mills is a great place for families to spend days out exploring the secret history of gunpowder, explosives and rocket propellants through our engaging interactive Exhibitions, Science Shows and Children's Activities. Includes Mad Lab, Rocket Vault, The Armoury, Mini and Narrow Gauge Railway, Playgroud, Woodland walk, exhibitions and more.

CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR OPEN DAYS/TIMES. Visit the largest preserved Midland Railway signal box and one of the few preserved boxes open to the public on a mainline railway. Continuous signalling demonstrations, railway videos and slideshow of the restoration, many signalling items on display, including single line 'tablet' machines, and other railway-related exhibits. Working signals, old signs and other exhibits in the garden. No need to book. Light refreshments are available on open days. Entrance is FREE, and donations are always welcome.
