The aim of the ABC is to create a 'home from home' atmosphere. The Alexandra Birthing Centre provides a calm atmosphere and surrounding, for women to feel relaxed and comfortable. The Birthing Centre is staffed with qualified midwives, who are experts in normal birth and adequately trained to deal with any eventualities during labour and birth, should these arise.

Hemel Hempstead Hospital has an Urgent Treatment Centre (open between 8.00am and 10.00pm daily) and offers other local healthcare facilities such as diagnostic services, including MRI and cold pathology, as well as an Outpatient service that sees in excess of 100,000 patients per year.
