IN ST ALBANS

The Air Training Corps (ATC) is a major national youth organisation, affiliated to the Royal Air Force. Becoming an Air Cadet is a fantastic way to learn new skills and enjoy experiences that wouldn't be possible with any ordinary youth organisation - and flying is just one example! Target shooting is another popular activity with the Air Cadets. Summer camps offer a great way to gain new skills and experiences whilst making new friends from around the country.

Rainbows are aged 5 to 7, Brownies 7 to 10, Guides 10 to 14 and Rangers for those aged 14 to 18. If you would like your daughter to join Girlguiding for the first time (at whatever level), you need to register her at www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-for-parents/register-your-daughter . You will complete basic information requested including a preference about which Unit you would like to register with - it works by postcode and will default to the closest one to you. You may be contacted by the Unit leader, but even if an e-mail is not received your daughter will be on the relevant waiting list. It is advisable to add girls to the waiting list as early as possible. Girlguiding in Harpenden and the surrounding areas is very popular and WAITING LISTS ARE LONG AND A PLACE IS NOT GUARANTEED. Leaders are always required and daughters of leaders get priority, so please do consider volunteering. If a girl is already in Girlguiding her unit leader will notify the leader of the next section, there is no need for the parents to re-register online. Those already in Girlguiding will be given priority when moving sections, over those new to Girlguiding.
