So where are the best places to stay cool this summer?
I asked the Mums guide to Hitchin social media followers and here are their, and my own, top tips.
I’ll continue to add to this article so please do let me know of more here.
Air conditioned retreats:
Little Rascals indoor soft play and café, Hitchin
Play Wild Soft Play at North Herts Leisure Centre, Letchworth
Waitrose in Hitchin - hang out in the freezer section or the café- the choice is yours!
Greggs in Hitchin
The Millstream in Hitchin
The Hermitage in Hitchin
M&S in Hitchin - pop in for a quick shop or head to their larger store in Stevenage - shopping and a café with air conditioning, woo! Just don't tell the kids that Smyths Toys is round the corner.
Broadway Cinema - catch a film and keep super cool at our independent cinema in Letchworth
David's Bookshop and Café in Letchworth
Sensory Magic in Biggleswade
360 Play indoor soft play in Stevenage
The Riverside Hub soft play in Northampton (this sounds a long way away, but I've heard it's amazing and well worth the trip!)
Keeping cool:
Woods - lots listed on the website in the Out & About section, but particular shady favourites are Hitch Woods, Chicksands and Rowney Warren, plus you can read my Tried and Tested review of a visit to Baulk Wood.
Splash parks- with so many great local splash parks, we really are spoilt for choice. Bancroft in Hitchin and Howard Gardens in Letchworth are our closest locally.
Lidos - we’re fortunate to have outdoor pools in both Hitchin and Letchworth- an ideal way to stay cool.
Mama Baby Play indoor play café, Hitchin is usually breezy and cool.
Joeys Brunch in Hitchin was nice and cool when I went there last summer.
If you have any more to add to the list, please let me know.
