Panshanger Park is 400 hectares of stunning countryside. You can enjoy the surroundings of ancient woodland, veteran oak trees and views across the Mimram Valley. Some areas of earlier mineral extraction have been restored to agricultural land, which supports winter populations of endangered farmland birds and summer breeding populations of lapwing. On the lakes and the river you may see kingfishers, great crested grebes and, if you are lucky, an osprey passing though on migration.

During school holidays, there are plenty of activity sessions for young people. Parndon Wood has informal visits by schools, which offer demonstrations of woodland crafts, painting and woodcarving, supporting national curriculum studies. Please note that dogs are welcome only in the café courtyard and must be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not allowed onto the woodland trail.

Our PYO is now open daily from 9.00am - 4.30pm We have had to put a number of restrictions in place for the PYO, which we hope you will understand and support. We are charging an entrance fee of £2.50 per adult/child (under 5s free). This fee will be refunded against a minimum spend on fruit picked of £2.50 per adult/child. There is a kiosk by the strawberry fields for entry and where payment for the PYO will then be taken on exit. Please respect social distancing rules and stay at least 2 metres away from other pickers and our staff who will be on site to make sure you know where to go and to monitor the picking. We will be limiting numbers of customers at any one time and will ask you to wait if necessary. We are looking forward, as much as you, to the carefree days of fruit picking, but for now our priority is keeping everyone safe. At the moment our PYO cannot operate as the usual fun family day out but it can still enable you to have access to the freshest fruit available.
