Discover the creatures lurking in the hidden depths of the waters - from the tiny water flea to the mighty dragonfly nymph, the ponds of Rye Meads are full of a variety of amazing animals! Available from 10am-4pm, Wednesday - Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday (21st April). No need to book, just turn up on the day!

All pond dipping equipment is provided for £4.50 per kit, and your pond dipping session will last approximately 25 minutes. Please do not bring your own nets as you won't be able to use them in our pond. This is a self-led activity.

No parents are allowed out on course with us to spectate, from experience we believe the children gain more from the activities.

Ages 6 - 12 with Slip 'n' slide, ages 12+ includes ziplines into water

A relaxed and messy potion making workshop in the Easter holidays.

Children will be guided through making some special spring potions, and will be able to 'free play'. They will be making fizzing, bubbling and beautiful potions exploring different reactions and smells.

Potion making encourages creativity, curiosity and excitement, and is all based on STEM. It's also great for sensory needs.

They will also be decorating a jar to take their brew home, including making a beaded label. Tea, coffee, biscuits and squash for free.

Recommended age 3+.

Join us with new tutor Elena Russu to draw beautiful Spring Flowers in coloured pastels.

In this workshop our tutor Elena will demonstrate how to work from still life looking at colours and textures to create your beautiful floral masterpiece.

After a short introduction to herself and each other, she will show different type of composition. Student can either work from still life or prepared resources.

Elena will demonstrate different tricks and techniques to use pastel, and talk about colour, how it can be mixed and the use of white for highlighting and adding depth.

In this workshop our tutor Jess will demonstrate how to make a simple folded zine, which we will then use to create a short comic on any topic of the child's choice (maybe Easter themed!). The kids can do this however they like, but they will be strongly encouraged to include comic elements such as speech bubbles, thought bubbles and onomatopoeia. She will bring examples!

The finished result should be a personal mini comic with a beginning and end, coloured in and taken home to treasure forever!

Our friendly Farmer will welcome you onboard before you head into our woods to spot egg-citing Easter scenes throughout the forest. You'll be entertained by 'Shearlock Holmes,' the world's greatest sheep detective, who has teamed up with the Easter Bunny and the Farmyard animals to help solve the mystery of the missing eggs! This is a great opportunity to work with Herts Inclusive Theatre as they lead a bespoke workshop specifically for South Mill Arts aimed at children and teenagers (aged 6-12) with additional learning needs.

The workshop will include drama games, creative activities, and some devised script work. The workshop is open to all abilities and levels and will be a great introduction to drama techniques.

£10 per place for the student, young people with additional learning needs or SEND.

Parents or Carers may stay for the session also to support their child.

Discover the creatures lurking in the hidden depths of the waters - from the tiny water flea to the mighty dragonfly nymph, the ponds of Rye Meads are full of a variety of amazing animals! Available from 10am-4pm, Wednesday - Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday (21st April). No need to book, just turn up on the day!

All pond dipping equipment is provided for £4.50 per kit, and your pond dipping session will last approximately 25 minutes. Please do not bring your own nets as you won't be able to use them in our pond. This is a self-led activity.

The trail takes place between 1 - 25 April 2025, from 09:30 to 16:00, with last entry at 15:30, so come along and explore the beautiful gardens of Wimpole Estate.
