Summerfields Miniature Railways
Run by volunteers (who are all members of Bedford Model Engineering Society), the Summerfields' Miniature Railways are located on the A600 a little over half-way between Hitchin and Bedford, and just to the North of Haynes village. You can find us on Google maps.
The railways are a popular visitor destination for children, parents and grandparents alike. There are four separate railways at the Summerfields' site, three of which you can take a ride on, and a fourth (the Garden Line) which you can watch, perhaps whilst having your lunch in our Hammer Hill picnic area.
Our running season starts around the end of March/beginning of April and continues through until the end of October. We open for a couple of Sundays each month, plus bank holiday Mondays and many Wednesdays during school holidays. Please check the Events page on our website to learn when our public running days are scheduled.
At Haynes End we have a "Station Buffet" which serves hot and cold drinks, cakes, crisps, biscuits etc and, in the summer, a few ice-creams. There is also another picnic area with tables .........and parking is free!
