Triangle Community Garden
The Triangle Garden is a community garden within a local park where people of all ages and abilities can come together and take part in creative land-based activities, such as growing food, tending plants, creating wildlife habitats and making permanent garden features.
The Garden is a part of a national network of permaculture demonstration projects and seeks to reconnect people with the natural world, enabling them to 'connect, grow, enjoy!'
We run community gardening activities open to all, once a month on weekends, and community events, workshops, walks and talks throughout the year. We also run Forest School activities for families with children aged 3-12 - Family Forest School on Sunday mornings, and for families with young people aged 12-16 - Triangle Tribe on Friday evenings, both in collaboration with forest school specialists CultureWood.
Our weekly Friday Garden Club actively gardens the Triangle Garden and we welcome new volunteers.
Our Growing Ability project for adults with additional needs, provides social therapeutic horticulture, work experience, and active healthy living support for people with learning disabilities, autism and mental ill health during the week.
We also run a six week nature wellbeing project called New Shoots that aims to help people with common mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, using the benefits of nature and the five ways to wellbeing.
The Triangle Garden is in Ransom's Recreation Ground, in the vibrant multicultural market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. It is less than a five minute walk from Hitchin Rail Station and bus hub. There is a small free carpark nearby (max stay 3 hours) and free parking in nearby roads (mostly restricted to 2 hours max stay). Long stay pay and display parking is usually available at Hitchin station.
