The world's oldest mechanised paper mill - the birthplace of paper's industrial revolution. The world's first machine for making a continuous roll of paper was placed here in 1803. Today it is still a working paper mill enabling visitors to see paper manufacture as part of a guided tour. Visits to Frogmore are active, fun and informative, for all ages.

It is over 200 years since the first "Monitorial School" in Hertfordshire opened in Dead Street, but which now has the more cheerful name of Queen Street. The furnished classrooms are open to the public and equipped to show the history of elementary education from pre-Victorian times to the late 1960s. Our 250 acres offer a quiet refuge for country picnics and dog walking (visitors are asked to use leads in the park and not to take pets into the gardens). You might catch a glimpse of Red and Sika deer. Children can run loose at the Adventure Playground, search for Geoffrey the Gorilla, hiding at the centre of the Victorian Maze, and enjoy a dinosaur safari with 72 pre-historic creatures grazing amongst the redwoods.
