Stage 1 (from 5 years)
This class covers the initial process of introducing those with no or little experience of swimming to the water environment, developing confidence. From 5 years.
Stage 2 (from 5 years)
As well as becoming completely 'at home' on and under the water, this stage helps develop control in the water, breathing and beginning to experiment with different methods of using limbs for propulsion. From 5 years.
Stages 3 to 7
Learn how to control breathing, improve techniques and increase distance swimming on all strokes (Breaststroke, Front Crawl, Backstroke and Butterfly) whilst progressing through the stages. Turns and essential safe diving practices are also covered.
Stages 8 to 10
Once the swimmer has developed the core range of skills required to be confident, competent and safe in the water throughout the stages 1-7, the swimmer may then have the choice to take part in different aquatic disciplines. Must be able to swim a minimum of 50 meters.
Rookie Lifeguard
Our multi-award-winning classes are part of our Advanced Aquatics Programme, therefore the learners need to be able to swim a minimum of 50 metres unaided. The programme involves a variety of skills to raise water safety awareness, how to avoid dangers and aid water confidence in the pool and sea. It includes survival skills, sports skills and basic first aid and resuscitation. Swim England have developed the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards (each of which are sub-divided into 3 levels) in conjunction with the Royal Lifesaving Society.
Swimming Challenge
The class is part of our Advanced Aquatics Programme, therefore the learners need to be able to swim a minimum of 50 metres unaided. The programme involves a variety of stroke skills, stamina building, and drills related to aquatics skills including various poolside dives, underwater swimming, s S culling and treading water. Instead of stages, these awards are similar to the Rookie Lifeguard in that they have Bronze, Silver, Gold and Honours Awards.

Classes available to learn diving techniques from poolside and our 1m board without qualified diving coaches.
