The Village Midwife
Our antenatal course covers your choices in pregnancy, labour, birth, and as a new parent from the perspective of an honest and friendly NHS midwife. You'll also make a group of local friends who are preparing to meet their baby too!
Our 5-star reviews speak for themselves - this is an antenatal course with a difference. As well as making a group of local friends, you deserve to come away feeling informed, positive, and excited about your birth experience too.
Unlike a lot of antenatal courses, ours is written, developed, and delivered by a practising midwife. This is important as it helps you navigate the maternity system and provides you with realistic and effective strategies for labour and birth. Someone with experience in the maternity system is best placed to help you prepare for whatever happens.
Our course focuses 50% on pregnancy, preparing for labour and birth, and different birth experiences and 50% on postnatal, feeding, and baby care as we believe preparation for the postnatal period is equally as important! There's also the option to add on a 1:1 hypnobirthing session to further equip you with tools to thrive both before baby arrives as well as after.
You know who your antenatal teacher is before you sign up. The support you get from the midwife running your course is central to their success. Check out the About Me sections of the website for our locations around the UK to get to know who's in your area.
Our course is super inclusive; all types of families are welcome and there are no old-fashioned patriarchal ideals here. Emphasis is equally on preparing birth partners for labour, birth, and the postnatal period with important tools to help!
After baby arrives, you're welcome to join one of our postnatal courses too! These are a great place to cement your support networks and learn from visiting experts on topics such as feeding, sleep, and baby-wearing.
