Welcome to St Mary's School.

I am extremely proud to be Head teacher of St Mary's, where children and adults work together to achieve the very best they can in all aspects of school life. Our small size and natural setting, combined with our dedicated team, results in a happy school with a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. We welcome children of all backgrounds and faiths, believing that the Christian values that underpin our school are important to all.

We have developed an exciting and progressive curriculum, maximising the opportunities provided by our forest school, large school field and the stream which runs through our school grounds. Carefully planned school trips, sporting activities and visitors provide further enrichment opportunities.

A vital part of the Northchurch community, we enjoy close relationships with St Mary's church and Sunnyside Rural Trust. St Mary's is a Growth Mindset school where both children and adults value learning by mistakes. Children and adults embrace our 'Positive Behaviour Policy' and live out the message that 'You Own Your Own Behaviour' (YOYOB).

Our most recent OFSTED inspection (March 2022) recognised that 'St Mary's is a welcoming and caring place to learn'. In addition, our 2019 SIAMS inspection stated that, 'Children and adults flourish in an atmosphere of genuine compassion and respect for each other.'
