IWM Duxford tells the story of the impact of aviation on the nature of war, on people's lives and the history of our region. Eight distinctive exhibition halls, historic buildings and state-of-the-art exhibitions, are filled with extraordinary collections taking you on an unforgettable journey through the times of war and peace.

Take a ride on one of England's leading narrow-gauge railways, with most trains hauled by vintage steam locomotives from around the world. Its sharp corners, steep gradients, level crossings and roadside running let you relive a form of transport that vanished long ago. Owing its existence to the First World War, it is also a living history lesson. And only a few miles from where you live.

Imagine if you could encounter real rockets, see the first sci-fi movie ever made, take the ultimate water rocket challenge, blast off into space inside the Vostok Capsule, see a dog spacesuit, see the last piece of genuine moon rock to be returned to Earth and pilot the 'Eagle' onto the lunar surface. Now put them all in one amazing Rocket Tower. Welcome to the National Space Centre.

With a world-class collection and display of aircraft, integrated with special exhibitions, films, interactives, artwork, engines, missiles, photographs, medals and uniforms and research and education facilities, the Museum takes an innovative approach while keeping with tradition.
